Sommelier - All-Around Wine Professional
Sommelier & Wine Shop Assistant
The full-time wine professional joining our team at The Tasting Table will share his / her time working in our wine cellar holding tastings, working in our wine shop and working in the small kitchen making cheese boards.
We are a small team … with a lot of passion and ambition. We are looking for someone who can learn quickly, work well with others, and help clients fall in love with Hungarian wine!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- at the cellar host tasting presentations for groups, with the perfect balance of education and fun
- maintain cleanliness and organization, including re-stocking shelves and maintaining displays
- serve customers (pour and explain wine, prepare cheese and charcuterie boards, sell wine and products, etc.)
- enthusiastically and knowledgeably assist customers with purchasing wine, and process the transactions.
- maintain the shop’s appearance, ensuring that displays are attractive, well-maintained, and consistently stocked
- receive deliveries and properly account for inventory
- pour tastings, provide customer education, and help maintain wine menu
- assist with cleaning and maintain the shop’s orderly appearance
- assist with placing orders
- assist with fulfilling online orders
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- a demonstrated passion for wine (particularly Hungarian wine), wine education, wine making, people, experiences, and engaging storytelling
- retail experience is strongly preferred. Must have the ability to present and sell products
- wine industry, hospitality, or tourism experience is strongly preferred
- high level of wine knowledge (preferably WSET Level qualifications or sommelier training), or some other equivalent wine education or work experience
- english and Hungarian fluency (spoken and written)
- computer & technology proficiency including Google based apps and apple products
